It is possible (though of questionable legality) to have a nurse administer Botox to a patient in the Capital District and not even to see a physician for this service. It is unclear to us why a patient would be willing to have this done, when, for a similar price one can have a board certified dermatologist with years of experience administer this treatment. It is important to remember that for the optimal treatment with this wonder-drug, an artistic touch is desirable. Dr. Buhac is one of the leading users of Botox in the region, and has personally performed each injection herself. An appointment can be scheduled for a consultation/treatment on short notice. We encourage you to visit the • Botox Cosmetic web site • to obtain more information about this option.

Botox (Botulinum toxin) is used to rejuvenate the upper part of the face to reduce wrinkles and frown lines. It is very safe and effective in reducing the signs of aging by decreasing or erasing the frown lines between eyes, the crow's feet around the eyes, and the forehead wrinkles. This drug is FDA-approved for the treatment of wrinkles, and has been used since 1973. Botox treatments can also be used to reduce the lines around the mouth and to tighten the skin under the neck.

Botox lasts 3 to 6 months following an injection. The results are impressive in softening and reducing fine lines and wrinkles to give a rejuvenated and more youthful appearance. You will look younger and more rested within 5 to 10 days after injection.

Side effects are minimal. If patients are on anti-inflammatory medications like Tylenol, ibuprofen, or aspirin, there may me some bruising at the site of the injection. There may be slight pink coloration and minimal swelling at the area of the injection, which resolves within minutes. Rarely there may be a droopy eyelid, which resolves on its own in a few weeks, sometimes this is corrected by special eye drops.
