Laser Hair Removal

There are many products on the market dedicated to hair removal, but they can be messy, painful and simply ineffective. Candela GentleLASE™ offers you an alternative to hot wax, sloppy creams and electrolysis. State-of-the-art laser technology provides a quick, safe and relatively painless method for eliminating unwanted hair.

How does it work?
A micro laser pulse delivered through a handheld wand targets the hair root, preventing growth. The laser is computer-controlled to ensure the correct energy setting and correct wavelength.

Is it painful?
Thanks to Candela's patented cooling device, patients feel very little discomfort during the procedure. A split second before the laser pulse, there is a short burst of a cryogenic coolant and that is also computer-controlled so the laser and the coolant burst are always in sync. This temporarily numbs the skin surface and allows for a slightly more effective treatment by completely protecting the skin.

How long does it take?
Actually, treatments are relatively fast thanks to the 1" diameter laser spot on the handheld wand. For example, an upper lip or chin might take just 2 minutes and your lower legs might be about 30 to 40 minutes. The built-in automatic coolant also speeds up the process because there's no need to stop and spray the skin with a cooling agent.

Is it safe?
Yes. The GentleLASE™ is very safe and we can treat almost any part of the body, except the area below your eyebrows.

We have even used this treatment for children and teenagers.

What is my skin like after treatment?
After a treatment, you will see some redness and perhaps a little swelling. This is normal and your skin will usually return to its normal appearance in 24 hours. Even so, you can reapply your make-up before you leave the office.

How many treatments will I need?
For most patients, we see a substantial reduction in hair growth in just 3 to 8 treatments. We like to schedule treatments about 8 weeks apart.

Is this permanent or will the hair eventually grow back?
It's not unusual for patients to come back in about 2 to 5 years for a touch up. But even so, not all the hair will grow back. You might just have a few small patches of hair that can be easily removed with the GentleLASE™.
