Laser Overview
Dr. Buhac has studied the use of lasers on the skin with leading researchers in this field. This expertise allowed her to bring cutting edge laser technology to this area, and her investment in equipment and staff training has resulted in a large volume of cases.
Our four lasers are used on a daily basis, resulting in one of the regions largest laser medicine practices. Surprisingly, there are no regulations in place in NY State governing the use of medical lasers. This means that anyone can purchase a laser and sell their services to the public. There are no requirements for training, licensure, or insurance. As a result, there are electrologists, cosmetologists, and even hair stylists providing laser services in this area. Unfortunately, we believe that these individuals do not have the proper training to recognize potentially dangerous treatment situations, and their clients have been unnecessarily injured. At our facility, the lasers are only operated by NYS licensed RNs, Pas, and MDs. All patients are required to meet with Dr. Buhac, in consultation to determine if they are good candidates for a laser treatment. In most cases, we perform test spots to see how the skin reacts to the laser in a small area before the skin is reexamined and a full treatment is performed several weeks later. Dr. Buhac is available at all times for any problems that might arise. Finally, because of the volume of patients we are able to accommodate, our patients are often surprised at how affordable these treatments can be.
Many patients are surprised at the conditions that can be treated with lasers. We are very busy treating the following areas:
· Facial redness
· Facial veins
· Wrinkles around the eyes
· "Age spots" on the face and hands
· Birthmarks
· Tattoos
· Unwanted facial and body hair
· Active acne
· Acne scars
· Scars after any kind of surgery
· Leg veins
· Stretch marks
While some providers have one or two lasers, some of which are rented, we own four state of the art lasers. This allows us to choose the right laser for the specific condition. Sometimes laser isn't the best way to treat a specific condition, and this fact can be discovered by having the initial consultation with the doctor. There are many advantages of having an experienced physician personally examine you before a procedure is done.
